Restaurants & bars
Your kitchen printer, your register, and your guest Wi-Fi shouldn’t all be one outage away from ruining a Friday night.
We build restaurant networks for your busiest service, not your quietest afternoon.
Guest Wi-Fi on its own lane. Payment terminals protected and watched. Cameras that give you usable footage. And one person to call when something goes sideways mid-rush.

We work around service
Cutovers and installs get scheduled around your rush, never through it.
Your register stays isolated
Payment systems get their own protected lane from day one, not as an upgrade.
One call, mid-rush
You reach the person who built your system, not a queue.
Who we work with
Seven Alaska restaurants already run on networks we built.
From Anchorage to the Homer Spit — different kitchens, different POS systems, the same requirement: it has to hold up on a full Friday night. Ask any of them what happens when they call us.

Sounds familiar?
Four things restaurant owners tell us, almost word for word.
If you’ve said one of these out loud in the last month, the fix is more straightforward than you’d expect.
“Our Wi-Fi drops every Friday night when we're slammed.”
We size your network for your busiest night, not your quietest afternoon, and separate guest Wi-Fi from your registers so one doesn't choke the other.
“I found out our old manager could still log into everything a month after she quit.”
Door codes, Wi-Fi access, and camera logins get shut off from your phone the day someone leaves — not whenever someone remembers.
“A card reader glitch cost us twenty minutes during the dinner rush.”
Your payment terminals run on their own protected lane, watched and patched automatically, so a glitch gets caught before it becomes a line out the door.
“I can't tell if that late-night noise on the camera app was actually someone, or just the cat.”
Cameras built for your kitchen and back door, not a blurry consumer app — clear footage you can actually use if something happens.
The Friday-night problem
A full dining room shouldn’t be able to take down your register.
When guest phones, tablets, the kitchen printer, and your POS all share one flat network, a busy night is indistinguishable from an outage. We separate them so your payment path stays clear no matter how many guests are streaming video at table twelve.
- Guest Wi-Fi built as its own network with no route to your POS
- Enough access-point coverage for the dining room, bar, patio, and kitchen
- Kitchen printers and terminals on a protected lane of their own
- Monitoring that flags a failing device before your staff notice it
Front of house
Every missed to-go call is a ticket you never rang in.
One connected phone system handles reservations, to-go orders, and the host stand at once — with voicemail that reaches an actual person and call routing you can change yourself.
- Multiple lines so a busy host stand doesn’t send callers to voicemail
- Voicemail and call routing you can adjust without a service ticket
- Door codes for new hires issued today and revoked the day they leave
- Camera coverage at the register and back door that’s actually searchable
Everything we do — all 19 services
Everything we do, written for a restaurant.
Not a menu of packages — the complete list, and what each one actually changes about your night.
01 Network design & installation
Your dining room, bar, patio, and kitchen all get Wi-Fi that reaches — no dead zone by the walk-in.
02 Business-grade Wi-Fi
Guests get Wi-Fi that doesn't slow down your POS, even when the dining room is packed.
03 Wireless building-to-building links
If you've got a separate building — storage, a second bar, a food truck bay — it connects without new trenching.
04 Network segmentation & firewall
Your kitchen printer and register stay on their own lane, so a guest's phone virus can't touch your payment system.
05 Business phone systems (VoIP)
To-go orders and reservation calls don't get missed because the host stand phone was busy.
06 Security cameras & video
See exactly what happened at the register or the back door — from your phone, from home.
07 Door access control
Give a new hire a code today, and cut it off the second they're gone — no re-keying the building.
08 Structured cabling
Wiring for a remodel or expansion is run right the first time, without redoing walls later.
09 Endpoint protection
Your POS terminals and office computer are watched for ransomware, not just scanned once in a while.
10 Email security
The fake “invoice from your food distributor” email gets caught before your manager pays it.
11 Backup & continuity
If a POS server dies mid-shift, your sales history and menu don't disappear with it.
12 Monitoring & patching
Security updates happen overnight, not whenever someone remembers to click “update.”
13 Monthly security reporting
A short monthly note tells you what's protected — no tech jargon to decode.
14 Training for your team
Your staff learn to spot a scam text pretending to be a delivery driver or vendor.
15 Project & install work
Opening a second location or remodeling? The network gets planned before the walls go up.
16 Travel / on-site service
If you're outside Anchorage, we still come to you for hands-on work.
17 Nonprofit rate
If you run a nonprofit kitchen or community dining program, ongoing support is discounted.
18 Co-managed IT
Already have someone handling your POS software? We handle the network and security side alongside them.
19 Financing
Larger builds can be financed, subject to approval, instead of one lump payment.

Our own short explainer, plus the manufacturer’s demos of the camera and phone platforms behind most restaurant installs we do.
Why a small business gets targeted
A short Solstice explainer on how everyday attacks actually reach a small business here in Alaska — and the handful of things that stop most of them.

Worth knowing
Three things worth knowing before your next card-reader glitch.
Sourced and linked, so you can check any of it yourself.
Your register should never share a network with your guest Wi-Fi.
The PCI Security Standards Council says the standard applies to every business that processes payments “regardless of their size or transaction volume.” Keeping your register on its own network isn't strictly mandatory — but on a shared, flat network the Council considers your entire network to be in scope, and it names weak or default passwords as one of the leading causes of payment-data breaches.
Source: PCI Security Standards CouncilA skimmer takes minutes to install — and a five-minute habit catches it.
A real-world guide to point-of-sale fraud found that installing a skimmer takes “only a few unsupervised minutes with the terminal” — exactly what a slow shift or an unlocked back room provides — and recommends photographing every card reader at install and comparing it on a regular schedule.
Source: Ghosxt, 2026Small operations are the more frequent target, not the exception.
Ransomware and extortion showed up in 88% of confirmed small-business breaches in 2025, versus 39% at large companies. For a restaurant, that's the difference between a normal Tuesday and a day your POS is locked and you can't run a single ticket.

In Alaska, residents and businesses reported nearly $40 million in losses to internet-enabled crime in 2025, a 52% jump from 2024, with business email compromise among the costliest categories at $7 million statewide.

Card payments
If you take cards, your network is part of your card security — whether anyone planned it that way or not.
Here’s the part most restaurant owners are never told: the PCI Security Standards Council says isolating your payment systems from the rest of your network is not required. But it also says that without it — on what they call a “flat network” — your entire network falls inside the scope of the standard. Guest Wi-Fi, the kitchen printer, the office laptop, the TV in the bar. All of it.
- Payment terminals and your POS on their own network, with no path to guest Wi-Fi or back office
- Firewall written to default-deny, then opened only for the traffic your POS vendor actually needs
- Guest Wi-Fi built so a customer’s phone has no route to anything that touches a card
- Vendor default passwords and leftover installer accounts cleared off every device
- A unique login per person — revoked the day someone stops working for you
- Remote support access turned on when we need it and off when we’re done, never left open
- A written network diagram showing exactly which lane your payment systems live on
- Ongoing monitoring, patching, and logging on the equipment sitting under your register
Your computers and your email count too — and Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 is where most restaurants get caught.
The network is the foundation, but two of the rules behind card security live somewhere else entirely: on the computers your managers use and in the inbox that fills up every morning. No firewall answers either one, and the platform’s out-of-the-box settings are not tuned for a business that takes cards.
The one habit to stop today: never email or text a card number. The moment a card number lands in your inbox, your whole email system becomes part of your payment environment — every mailbox, every archived message.
- Managed protection on every business computer, updating itself, that staff can’t switch off
- Security updates on a schedule — urgent ones fast, the rest planned around service hours
- Nothing installed on your card readers; we follow what your POS provider supports
- Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 hardened past the defaults — link and attachment inspection before anyone sees the message
- Your domain configured so outsiders can’t send email that looks like it came from your restaurant
- A rule that stops a card number from leaving in an email in the first place
- One login per person, no shared manager mailbox, and a second step at sign-in
- Email and network access shut off the same day someone leaves — together, not one and then the other
- Short recurring staff training on spotting a fake vendor invoice, with practice messages so you can see who needs a hand
We work directly with your POS vendor — Toast, Square, Clover, and others — so nobody points at the other guy when your register goes down mid-rush.
Your compliance paperwork stays yours. We make sure the network underneath it actually holds up.

We build and maintain network infrastructure; your compliance validation remains your own. On email specifically, the Council states that if a card number is sent or received through a messaging channel, the systems behind that channel — mail servers included — come into scope: PCI SSC FAQ on cardholder data over end-user messaging.

What this looks like in practice
Example restaurant work
A full-service restaurant's kitchen network was rebuilt so the kitchen printer, register, and guest Wi-Fi never share a lane — and the whole seven-camera, two-access-point system is monitored as one connected system instead of a pile of separate gadgets.
Common questions
Restaurant questions, answered
Should my POS be on the same network as guest Wi-Fi?
No. Your registers and card readers should sit on their own network, separate from guest Wi-Fi. On a shared, flat network the PCI Security Standards Council treats your entire network as in scope, which raises your risk and your compliance burden.
Why does our Wi-Fi slow down during the dinner rush?
Usually because the network was never sized for a full house. We plan coverage and capacity for your busiest hour and give your POS and kitchen printers their own lanes so guest traffic cannot crowd them out.
Can you install work without closing the restaurant?
Yes. Cutovers and installs are scheduled around your service, not through it, so you stay open.
Do you handle the POS software itself?
We handle the network side of your POS: wiring, Wi-Fi, segmentation, and security. Payment processing and cardholder data stay with your POS provider.
